Happy 7th!

Today marks the 7th anniversary for DarkMagick.net!

As you can see, it's a bit of a special layout (i.e., it took me longer than five minutes with Photoshop to make). Some pages have gone, some new pages have shown up, pages have been updated, and some of the (long-)promised updates have started showing up. So far, that's included the latest review, but more will come soon.

New pages include a quick history on the site. Updates have been done on the About Me page.

Hopefully more updates to follow as the days progress.

Spells

Chapter Three of Automatic Paranoia has finally been linked on Spells. That brings AutoPara's word count to nearly 8,900 words.

A new story has also been added to Spells in the Doctor Who/Torchwood category, called A New Age Dawns. It's my entry for JulNoWriMo, so count on at least 50,000 words. It's the first of two Torchwood "novels" I'm planning on doing.

New fiction page

So I actually carried through on my promise to get the new fiction page up. Rather than having to choose on the main page if you want by series or by genre, all the fiction is now right there on the main page. Have a look!

I also managed to get Fortis up, which I'd somehow been missing.

Hurrah for making things easier!

Who's a forgetful kitty

Who's a forgetful kitty...? Yeah, I guess that would be me. The following updates are completed at last:

*Chapter Three of Belladonna has been uploaded to Spells
*A new one-shot, Wander, has been added to Spells

Possible layout changes to come soon. (And I will finish the other changes sooner or later.)

New story

There is a new story on Spells, in both the Stories by Genre and Stories by Series sections: Who Is...? It marks my first solo Who-verse venture... and my first double drabble.

If I were going to redo the Spells section so that it's all one page, what would be better: by genre, by series, or by title? Updating this many pages gets old fast. Please, if you have an opinion, leave it in a comment or on the Shoutbox.

New Layout

I guess I'm a slacker with these notices, but the newest layout is up. At last, I've moved to a more generic layout, so less worrying with copyright issues.

And I'll get the rest of the stories finished formatting sooner or later, as well as finishing up the recs page.

In the meanwhile, though, there is a new story up on Spells, in all three sections (Genre, Series, and Dragons of the Moon). Actually, it's the first part of a 24 section story. The overall arc is called Changes, while the individual story is "Deux ex Machina".

Mea Culpa

It's been a bit since I updated this, but I've been working on the recs page quite a bit lately. The Doctor Who/Torchwood section and the Supernatural section have both been linked now. Slowly the other sections are being moved to their own individual pages, and new links are being added. I don't know when it will be declared at a ready state, but I am working on it. I haven't forgotten DMnet.

New layout

Okay, since it's been three months since the newest layout, I guess it was time for something new. This one was done all by me in Notepad (coding), The Gimp (graphics), and Frontpage (image maps). Instead of being tables, this layout is div layers, something new for me. This should make it more compliant with other browsers (besides my Firefox).

Small cosmetic changes are going on behind the scenes on every major page. For the most part they've been completed, but if you see a page with a header dropped lower than other pages, please let me know.

"Mitotic" should now be available on Spells, after much procrastination and forgetting about.

And finally I'm getting around fixing the ability to review on stories, as well as adding custom headers on stories. This is what's slowing me down in completing this update. I've gotten as far as Gods and Other Creatures, working over two days. I never really realized how much I'd written till I was having to fix all the chapters up.

New story

There is a new story upon DMnet. It's not in Spells (my writing) though -- it's in Benefactions, stories that were gifted to me by some of the amazingly talented writers that make up my friends. This one is Yu-Gi-Oh based, by the ever talented Daimeryan Rei -- and my favorite YGO pairing to boot.

Things I've forgotten to say

I've been forgetting to make announcements for a bit now. Nothing huge, really: only one new story.

The 2006 Yuugiou Slash Novella Challenge is over. Judge's pick went to Everything You Are by Tyger. The 25k Winner was Daimeryan Rei's The Past of the Present Future. Finally, Chain by Dawn won the 15k category. Congratulations to all the winners!

The 2007 Yuugiou Slash Novella Challenge is in its writing phase, with 8 potential entries.

Where Angels has been added to Spells, under both By Genre and By Length.

Commenting is still down on the majority of stories... mainly because I decided it wasn't an essential function since it was so infrequently used.

Angel Maxwell has been updated with actual content! So far there are some of my original shorts and information on the ongoing novels. And maybe some day I'll have time to FINISH one of those novels.

The Joined/Supported page has been updated with one new fanlisting and the removal of several colorbars. Colorbars have been made their own subheading and generally cleaned up.

New Layout

So I'm indecisive. I've changed the colors on DarkMagick.net again. I really need to worry on making a layout for Angel Maxwell and leave this alone for a few months... but I wouldn't count on that happening any time soon. This is simply too much fun.

Later today or tomorrow I'll fix a small error I found: "Mitotic" is only available on Apollymi's Grimoire.

There are small plans to add a new section for the demons kitties.

Automatic Paranoia

A new chapter of Automatic Paranoia is now available on Spells.

I've been working on some new wallpapers, but I think I'm going to hold off on uploading them till I get a chance to make a new wallpapers page. So far I have a DN Angel, a GundamW, and a Get Backers. They're mostly 1280x1024, but I've tried to also do 1024x768 as well.

Automatic Paranoia

The third major story by me in the Endless Loop saga is now available on DMnet: Automatic Paranoia. The first chapter of AutoPara is up, and hopefully the second will be coming soon. This will be the shortest section of EL, to warn everyone in advance.

Spellbound

Okay, so I'm a forgetful dork.

Spellbound is now available on DarkMagick.net, in all applicable versions of Spells, Apollymi's Grimoire, on the Yuugiou page, and on the Endless Loop main page.

All stories on the Endless Loop main page have been formatted to match the subdomain.

Finishing up

I'm finishing up last night's layout update with fixing some final colors. As you can see, this section finally caught up. (Yay!)

I updated the Endless Loop poll a bit, so that links are more readily chooseable and everyone can view the stats for it. Unfortunately, I did have to dump the 'Other' option to do this, but all the 'other' votes I had received didn't fill out the section saying what 'other', so I'm not sure they were valid anyway. I've linked the poll from the EL main page (at last). I've also made the Endless Loop section of DarkMagick.net into it's own subdomain.

I have two more updates to make regarding EL: I need to add "Spellbound" to the EL index and I might make copies of all the chapters that are formatted to match the EL site layout. This is kinda iffy still though.

With the rest of the site, I can't remember if I mentioned the addition of open hosting. Just contact me if you're interested. And downloads are going sponsored: I can't keep taking the bandwidth hits.

New Layout

Well, as you may have guessed, I've changed the layout around a bit. It's not a huge change: just the colors. It's certainly brightened things up a bit though! ^^ Apparently the CSS hasn't quite caught up with this blog and the writing updates on, so bear with, please!

There are a few small additions. You'll notice that site information has moved closer to the top of the sidebar. There is also now information towards being hosted on DMnet. I'm also going to be adding a sponsored section or two: maybe MP3s or videos, but only to people who donate. So, people who have been getting my stuff for free, sorry, but that's got to change.

In other news, it's a little over one month till the first annual YGO Slash Novella Challenge is over... or at least the writing portion of it. I think I'll be glad, but I need to get busting on it. Damn kids, not talking...

Just Another Day, archives, and a poll

Dear loyal readers,

There is a new story on DarkMagick.net, called Just Another Day. It was written for Kaiba Seto's birthday and finished last night at 10:30... hence the delay on getting it posted till now. I have to say: working at 7:30 in the morning puts a damper on staying up late to finish stories or anything like that.

Anyway JAD is posted in both sections of Spells and has already picked up one review in the two hours it's been up on Fanfiction.net.

I'm giving a new fan archive place a shot: MyFandoms.com. Has anyone heard anything on them? I've yet to get a review off them... but the only things that are up there are Color of Life, Metal Heart, Our Farewell, and now Just Another Day.

Finally, I made up a poll regarding Endless Loop (Color of Life, Cursed Gold, Blood and Sacrifice, Avarice, Automatic Paranoia, Endear, and the others). Basically, I'm trying to figure out what interests people the most in the EL series, because after AutoPara and En, we may only have one more story to go out publicly: Route 666. That's not to say we don't have plans for others, but as there is a bit of a change that happens in said others, we need to know where we stand with our readers. We want to make sure we aren't going to be killed for these changes.

So please, fill out the poll and let us know what you think.

Eternal SailorM.net updates

Well, it's something of an "at long last", but Eternal SailorM.net finally has its new layout up and running. I'm still debating on changing the fiction indexes to match the current layout or leave up the image versions, but the new front page is up.

Icons are leaving ESMnet. If they make a return at all, it will likely be on DMnet when the sidebar menus get their revamp. (The layout itself on DMnet will remain up for quite a while yet. I'm extremely happy with it. I can stare at it all day.)

And that's about it. Ciao.

Ads and donations

You know, I remember thinking about a few years ago that I never wanted to have to put ads on DarkMagick.net, that I'd carry the hosting costs through as best I could. I hate to say I've broken my promise to myself, but I have.

I've tried my best to make them unobtrusive, but the ads are there. I would ask anyone coming into the page to click at least one link from the Google ads per visit. Help me out, and I'll help you out.

Another thing I'm still looking at are donations. Anyone who donates should get some kind of a prize. So far I've been giving donators small prizes: wallpapers, LiveJournal icons, or a story. What if I give donators access to MP3s or AMVs and things of that like. Would anyone feel more inspired towards donating then?

Endless Loop -- Avarice

Well, at long last I can say this: Katsuko's second part in the Endless Loop saga, Avarice, has been finished. The epilogue was uploaded. I'm going to be throwing myself into Automatic Paranoia as much as I can with the novella going. I can't wait to get you guys to Route 666. *beam*

Newest Addition

Want to talk about a Freudian slip? Instead of "addition" above, I typed "addiction". Oh well, true enough too, I suppose.

I've added a new toy to DarkMagick.net. Eventually, it will also be available on Angel Maxwell, Eternal SailorM, and Never Say Goodbye. You could say this is the beta run.

On the Contacts page, I've added a MeeboMe widget. So whenever I'm on Meebo, which is most of the day when I'm at work, you can talk to me. Meebo allows me to be on AIM, Yahoo!Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Google Talk all at the same time; if I still used my ICQ, it'd come up as well.

So give it a shot. I promise I don't bite... hard.

Also, you'll notice this is Updates4. I got tired of fighting CuteNews for my updates, and to make them show up in order, so... I moved it completely over to Blogger. There is also now a Writing Updates blog, where I'm going to try (note: try) to keep everyone up-to-date on what's happening in the wild, hairy world of my mind and its writing.
